The Obelisk of Sol, a mysterious monumnet standing alone in the Desert of Sol. It was built ages ago by a race the moden people have forgotten and for reasons no one can remember.

Sol is a location in the World of Dream; an ongoing novel/saga in the works for many years. I hope to bring to light many wonders from the world I write about, as seen through the red lenses of a character known only as the ‘Wanderer’.

That is pretty darned neat if You don;t mind me saying. How did You get the (for lack of insight int the novel) the spiked worm thing to wrap around Your Obelisk?

Greetings, and thanks for the props. The image was done all in Photoshop; the worm thing was done by snaking the airbrush tool over the obelisk and then erasing the parts that would be wrapping around behind it. The spikes were done with the smudge tool with a small dense brush. A few tweaks with layer modes and then I had it.

On lesser note, the worm thing is acutally spiritual energy of some sort. In the story, the Obelisk is unapproachable because it is a door into another plane, and like a vaccum it sucks in all matter (hence, the desert was one a beautiful forest) into it. only on a certian time of day cam people pass safely through the desert; I suppose it has an ‘off’ mode.

Thanks for the info on the "snake-thingy" (appaerntly not its techincal name but hey close enough) it was so obvious way to make it, i would have never thought of it but its a great idea... i mean a lot of the web images i see lack depth but Your S(?)oul tower pretty much defies that. i don't know too much about photoshop so my complements might not mean much but i think its rather an impressive way to make non-really 3-D image look 3-D. If You don't mind i may end up using simalar methods to adding depth to some of my deviations in the future.

Anywho.. where does the matter go after being sucked in?
